On the page From the Register to History we publish the birth certificate of Alba de Céspedes (1911-1997), writer, poet and partisan. She was one of the most influential voices in 20th-century Italian literature, with elegant and incisive writing that combined individual introspection with lucid social analysis. Her works, translated in 32 countries, foreshadowed many of the themes that would mark feminist debates in the second half of the 20th century.
