Family life and popular traditions
The film collection traces the life of the Cecchetti family between the second half of the 1950s and the early 1990s, in various locations in Italy, and in particular in Quarna Sotto (VB), where the Cecchetti family spent most of their free time throughout the seasons and years.
Since his youth, Giorgio Cecchetti has been interested in safeguarding the traditions of Quarna’s farming community. In the 1970s he also made short amateur documentaries in Super8 format, to document agricultural and craft activities in Quarna that were destined to be forgotten, and in this way attempt to safeguard the memory of the Quarna community.
Giorgio Cecchetti (1928-2010) began filming in 1956, intrigued by the filmmaking practice of his brother-in-law Augusto Caccini, and continued until 1991. Ha girato tutti i suoi film nei formati 8mm e Super8.
The in-depth work was made possible thanks to interviews given between 2017 and 2018 by the filmmaker’s three daughters, Chiara, Silvia and Valeria Cecchetti.
It is possible to retrace the history of the Cecchetti family through the video edition of the Giorgio Cecchetti film collection created with Klynt software.
